Laibl’s Rosh HaShanna Blog:
Around the World in 80 Hours
Around the world in 80 days – a wonderful film. But I have just lived through ‘around the world in 80 hours’. Admittedly there were some side trips for missions impossible. So how does one pass the 80 hours inextricably interwoven with a flying projectile? In my case, I think, write, and think and write some more.
Being 35,000 feet closer to Infinite has a profound effect on my consciousness. I tend towards the philosophical, introspective and creative. The distance from my daily reality provides me with perspective. The separation from my loved ones focuses emotional intelligence The removal from cell phones and emails liberates my soul.
As I am In the final hours of my 80 hour global sojourn, let me distil what otherwise might have become a soliloquy of Shakespearian proportions, into manageable bytes of thought-flow shaped by the approaching Yom HaDin (day of Judgment – Rosh HaShannah).
1. What moves us is the quest for personal significance that flows from loving and being loved. So nurture the plants of relationship with tenderness and deep commitment. Do not allow ‘life’s exigencies’ to distract this essential focus.
2. Our inner guide is the still small voice within. It is only audible when the noise of stress, worry, and resentment is filtered. Create the opportunities for your inner wisdom to be heard.
3. We are not alone. There is a cosmic force of kindness, warmth, and goodwill that carries us in Its womb. Live your life consciously and deeply allowing a sense of profound presence to befriend your mind and heart.
4. Time is both our friend and tyrant. Befriend it and it will provide you with the opportunities to express the yearnings of your heart. Mistrust it and it will oppress you and drive you into desperation. Honor time as a faithful servant of creation.
5. Share and contribute. You are a conduit for sublime energies that course through your being. Channel your potential to facilitate the growth and wellbeing of those who have been chosen to enter your domain.
6. You are your best friend and worst enemy. Ego-lessness creates a wide angle vision of purpose and value. Self-centeredness is like two fingers n front of the eyes – it hides the tallest mountains.
7. Be true to, and honest with, your Jewish soul. Being true to your Jewish notes allows the Cosmic symphony to play the creation of beauty.
May this year bring you inner peace, outer joy and spiritual fulfilllment.
